A Study in Balance

Designed by AMD Architecture, this mid-century gem in the Avenues experienced a transformation from the inside out. It was important to maintain and accentuate the original mid-century style, while adding complementing modern elements like the natural wood siding and fencing, along with the contemporary railing and attractive landscaping.

With not only a lovely home, but beautiful outside areas as well, we sought to create a balance and flow between the indoor and outdoor spaces. A look inside the home reveals a modern accordion door that folds away to reveal stunning views of the Salt Lake Valley, allowing light and air to flow into the living space. The window feature is echoed in the home’s bar space, creating a relaxing spot to enjoy a cocktail with a view.

The original stone fireplace reflects an authentic mid-century charm that serves as a focal point in the living area. The surrounding design elements serve to complement the hearth with a variety of textures and materials — glass, wood, and metal. This house is about balancing and melding elements — classic and contemporary, indoor and outdoor, etc. We believe it strikes the perfect balance to be a comfortable and inspiring home.sm AMDAvenues1
